Lustrous and translucent, tabular, pastel-pink cobaltoan smithsonite crystals to 1.8 cm are richly and aesthetically set on massive sulfide matrix on this showy piece from Tsumeb. The two large smithsonites dominate and many of the crystal faces are preferentially dusted with light brown iron oxide, making for a nice highlight. Tabular or highly flattened smithsonite rhombs are not that common from Tsumeb. Ex. Rob Smith Collection.
