Rock Currier had a famous collection and, to some of us who knew it well, an even more treasured suite of fabulous thumbnail specimens compared even to his famous large pieces. He was not a huge collector of gold, but occasionally kept a particularly fine specimen, such as this. It is a large box buster thumbnail that he justified to keep in his TN suite — it fits only if you angle it oddly and is properly a miniature when stood upright fully on display. The patina and color and luster are all superb, and it is very dramatic overall. It is robust, more than it looks. With label, RHC #5706. Rock Currier acquired this in 1990.
