Exhibiting aesthetic sculptural form, the surface of this specimen is totally covered with intergrown rhombohedrons of lustrous and translucent, golden-colored cadmium rich smithsonite, in crystals to 8 mm across. Cadmian smithsonite in crystallized form is very rare on a worldwide basis, and the best come from, rather came from, Tsumeb. This comes with an old Prosper Williams label (he was a big dealer in Tsumeb material in the 1970s and into the 1980s, in particular). It is a beautiful, aesthetic piece with more style in form, than usually seen in such "plates." Complete all around, front and back. As an additional note, the cadmian smithsonite seems to sit on a thin layer of previous, pink, cobaltian smithsonite.
