On a sliver of massive ore, this cluster of lustrous and translucent, tan crystals of smithsonite, to 2.0 cm in length, is accessorized by having a surface coating of goethite?, in the form of brown stripes. The stripes give this superb specimen an otherworldly appearance. Incredibly interesting smithsonite, really different than so many hundreds of others I have seen. Ex. Charlie Key.
