An intense, old-time purple topaz from sporadic small pockets hit in the 1980s. Recently, again, such a find was hit but the crystals were to only 3 cm, and very thin and skinny. This is a gorgeous color, a true purple grading to magenta at the termination. I am aware of no other locality with this intensity of purple color in topaz, and these finds have always been justifiably famous and sought after. This piece is complete-all-around with just minute and trivial edge wear, remarkable really from what I understand of how these were collected and treated as gem rough and not specimens at first. It is a robust crystal here, much more important in size than many examples I have seen, at 15 grams.
