The well-known mines of Charcas, Mexico are famous for their sharply hexagonal, "poker-chip" style of calcite crystals. The huge, 16.5 x 15.7 cm crystal has smaller, parallel-growth crystals aesthetically attached on one end. All of the crystals are lustrous, and grade from porcelaneous white to gray to gemmy, colorless. Ex. Dan Brock Collection.
