This is one of the most rare of prehnites and most rare of Canadian mineral finds, consisting of a cluster of elongated prehnite crystals (itself a rarity), with zoned purple terminations caused by the presence of manganese. This elegant thumbnail specimen has a unique presence that draws the eye and is literally the only cluster of elegance we have seen, aside from some loose single crystals over the years. From the Dan McHugh collection. This is simply architectural in a way that few minerals are, and stands out to the eye in a case. It is unique in aesthetics, color, presentation; and makes for a surprising competitive thumbnail case example of this species.
