7.5 cm of pure, glowing vibrant colour, that is what this wonderful Brazilian gem Elbaite tourmaline from Barra do Salinas at Coronel Murta, Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais provides. Off-matrix, this single gem crystal is probably what one would call - Indicolite - with an acid green and teal-blue base, passing upwards through a broad acid lime-green body into deeper bottle-green, then teal-blue-green and into a deeper, very dark bottle-green tip. With excellent translucency these colours come alive with directional lighting and it has a fine traditional tourmaline-style sloping termination and excellent parallel growth lines up its length.
