There is a reason they called these "imperial" topaz when found and brought to the gem trade long ago. This remarkable, fine thumbnail gem topaz came out long ago, and is from the world's most important district for imperial topaz of gem quality. The color is intense, the transparency is amazing, and this is a doubly terminated crystal the likes of which I have not had before in this quality. Smaller crystals, pale color or more slender, those are common. This is a fat, robust, GEM of a crystal, however; and very impactful in a TN exhibit or miniatures case. It could be a large thumbnail or a small miniature, if displayed upright. The piece is simply stunning in person in a manner hard to convey by photos. We believe this, from an old gem dealer collection in Brazil, would have come out before the 2000s (although it is hard to say for sure). 41.93 carats.
