The unique combination of raspberry-red Rhodonite and grey metallic Galena is one of the highlights of the extraordinary mineral deposits at Broken Hill in New South Wales, Australia. This miniature specimen presents this iconic assemblage very nicely and with well-formed blocky Rhodonite crystals to 1.8 cm in length it makes for an excellent example of Rhodonite as a species. Although not specifically provenanced beyond 'Broken Hill', this distinctive association was known from North mine. The larger crystals range from appearing prismatic to bladed in form with one very shapely 'square-section' crystal terminated at one end where it enters the Galena matrix and having a fine red colour. The other larger crystal is cleaved at both ends. There are however, many very well-formed smaller (3 to 6 mm long) terminated Rhodonite crystals protruding from the Galena matrix. A colourful, and rich Rhodonite from this famous occurrence.
