Wow, look at the colour of this gem quality Diopside crystal from the Merelani Hills in the Lelatema Mts, Manyara Region, Tanzania. Gem Diopside crystals are extremely rare, especially in anything approaching a visible size, but this one is magnificent in both size (4.3 cm tall) and perhaps more importantly colour - a zingy intensely saturated lime green colour. The main crystal is a fine prism, perfectly terminated with a somewhat pyramidal tip. Another equally vibrant Diopside crystal cuts cross its lower half, and traces of silvery-grey Graphite are present near its base. This is an extremely attractive world-class miniature specimen of Diopside, the colour coming from traces of chromian within this deposit. It comes with its own purpose-made acryllic display stand.
