Morocco has produced many stunning mineral specimens across a wide range of mineral species and Anglesite is one where the level of quality occasionally jumps out at you. It is the Touissit-Bou Beker District that has produced the best Anglesite in Morocco and this large miniature specimen - a pure, large cluster of parallel bladed crystals - admirally demonstrates why. Not only are these very large Anglesite crystals, at 6 cm in length, but they are well-formed with the classic bladed orthorhombic habit with chisel-shaped terminations and linear growth lines lengthways up the prism faces. They are also glassy and bright with some good transparency, but it is the colour zoning with lemon-yellow tips that really tips them off, if you pardon the pun. There are obvious internal fractures visible and a few slight chips to the the edges, but overall this is a very fine Anglesite indeed. In fact, it is world-class for a species that rarely forms large well-formed crystals, let alone colourful ones. Ex Nick Hawes collection.
