Tucson, Arizona, USAFrom a relatively new discovery in the far south of Peru, at Rumipata in Ichuña District, General Sánchez Cerro Province comes this really unusual heavenly blue Quartz var. Chalcedony, pseudomorphing finger-like crystals of Anhydrite. This fine large miniature specimen is entirely Chalcedony, and displays several intergrown 'fingers'. The largest, reaching 6 cm in length, is near vertical and freestanding. At the base of the specimen, and at the tip of one broken 'finger', the internal, slightly layered texture can be seen. The outer surface of the 'fingers' is glossy and rough, with a finely crystallized layer. All trace of Anhydrite is gone, apart from the colour which it has imparted on the Chalcedony. A fascinating and unusually colourful pseudomorph.
