A significant location-specimen of Cassiterite from Cornwall with bright, lustrous crystals; and showing off as a competitive thumbnail specimen. This attractive group consists of two super lustrous, 1.4 and 1.3 cm, translucent brown-orange crystals whose color and transparency are much more apparent with backlighting. This pair of handsome, tetragonal crystals are very well formed with sharp edges and mirror-like faces with noticeable modifications. There is a partial third crystal on the back and they are associated with some minor drusy white Calcite. The historic Cligga Mine was worked for tin and tungsten in the 19th Century and early 20th. The specimen is almost certainly from the 1800s; and many of the classics in the Seel collection were obtained when Paul Seel bought from the huge European collections being brought over to the USA for sale in the early 1900s by a number of East Coast based dealerships.
