An excellent, small-miniature-sized cluster of rare Wulfenite crystals from the famous and now-closed Tsumeb Mine. Honey-colored to clove-brown, the two Wulfenites are classic Tsumeb with their beveled edges, brilliant luster, and variable gemminess. The central regions are light and speckled, with light easily passing through. The outer regions are darker and zoned, in part to shadows and in part to coloration. It has been suggested that this dark color is due to molybdenum, although we cannot say for sure here. The largest crystal of this pair is 2.3 cm on edge. Wulfenite crystals that were this gemmy and lustrous were a classic style from the mine's 1970s production. In excellent condition, this miniature displays with a dramatic flair that is highly aesthetic. Better even in person. From the well-known Tsumeb-specific thumbnail collection of Dick and Mary Nelson, built mostly from 1980-2010. Laszlo Kupi photo.
