Tremolite on Graphite
Tremolite is not usually on a list of top colorful minerals: however, this is a truly superb, neon-green crystal from Tanzania. Tremolite is a relatively common of a rock forming mineral that is usually nondescript, but this crystal is certainly an exception, showing off a riveting color, beautiful translucency, great luster and an almost silky internal appearance. This is a fabulous small cabinet tremolite consisting of one larger and one smaller crystal in perfect parallel growth that is probably an old piece from the late 1990s or early 2000s and has long been in his collection. Both crystals are exquisitely terminated with the smaller crystal being doubly terminated. The bright green color of this crystal is most likely attributed to chromium, possibly with some vanadium. An incredibly showy piece that is simply shiny and beautiful compared to others! Ex. Paul Stahl collection.
