Offering a quite different colour than is usually seen from Tsumeb, this milky-white Smithsonite presents sharp rhombic crystals on both sides of a thin plate of Dolomite matrix. Opaque and with a fine pearlescent lustre, it would be easy to assume that these are crystals of Dolomite but the overall density of this piece confirms that these are Smithsonite (zinc carbonate). At small cabinet size and with crystals reaching 7 mm across this makes a great crystallized Smithsonite with virtually no damage to be seen. Ex Hettrich Collection.
