Sometimes called apple-green, the distinctively coloured, 'knobbly', botryoidal form of this, probably copper-bearing Smithsonite from 79 Mine, Chilito in Gila Co., Arizona, USA is perhaps unflatteringly like the skin of a toad. Cuprian Smithsonite was seen in older, 1980s and 1990s specimens, but the overall style of this piece, with dappled shades of green and beige, looks like material that appeared in 2009 from 470 Level. Very large miniature in size, this specimen is a lovely tactile 'bubbly' demonstration of the form that Smithsonite sometimes takes, along with how trace elements can influence its colour.
