Pyrrhotite with Calcite and Quartz$3,000.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A superb and aesthetic small cabinet specimen from Dalnegorsk that features a prominent, robust pyrrhotite crystal perfectly perched on small, glassy quartz crystals and associated with calcite. The pyrrhotite is a single, large, thick and textbook, pseudohexagonal crystal with a bronze metallic luster and a handsome orange-brown patina. It measures 4.2 cm across and 2.4 cm at its thickest. Close inspection reveals that it is dominated by two larger crystals in near parallel growth and at least three subordinate crystals that are also intergrown with them in near parallel growth and all are in perfect condition. There is an additional 2.2 cm at one side at the base that is at an obtuse orientation and it does have a minor amount of edge wear that is barely noticeable. The pyrrhotites sit on a lovely nest of glistening, water-clear quartz crystals to 1 cm in length. To the left, there is a translucent cluster of flattened rhombohedral calcite crystals to 1 cm that show phantoms that add to the aesthetics. This piece has great balance and composition. It's a great Dalnegorsk classic from the 1990s or early 2000s with refined quality.
