SUPERB example of the renowned golden calcite "jewels" from the world-famous Elmwood Mine in Tennessee. 6 cm in length, the single crystal rises obliquely and majestically above a thin plate of matrix. The termination is sharp and dramatic, and this is complete all around 360 degrees. The color, luster, and gemminess are classic for these calcites, and clearly show why collectors consider these "jewel style" crystals among the best calcites in the world. Many are from a named 1982 find called 'The Jewel Pocket', for reasons that need no explanation. Under UV light, there are red clouds of fluorescent calcite floating within the crystal, which adds even more to the allure of the piece. For poise and balance in the size (and price) range, this is hard to beat. Truly exceptional.
