A dense, thick, very sturdy mass consisting of thousands of intergrown, flat, elongated gold crystals forming one of the most thick and dense Round Mountain gold pieces we can recall. Usually these are gracile, fragile, bendable - but this is robust! A large, showy display piece of 100 percent crystalline gold, from this famous commercial mine. This came from the early 2000s production of the mine, now historic. It has since been in the Marshall Sussman Collection, after he obtained it directly from Scott Werschky (who was selling them directly from the miners at that time). Because of the sharp arrow-like points here and the elongation, we speculate that this is likely a second generation of gold coating an earlier gold crystal cluster that might have been organized around a large central spinel twinned crystal, giving it this elongated axis of display. Unusual. Dramatic. Showy, and bright! 72 grams (that is 2.21 troy ounces just of gold).
