This is a large display specimen of crystalline gold. This is a dense, thick, very sturdy mass consisting of thousands of intergrown, flat, elongated gold crystals forming one of the most thick and dense Round Mountain gold pieces we can recall. Usually these are gracile, fragile, bendable - but this is robust! A large, showy display piece of from this famous commercial mine in Nevada - but also just a fine large gold for this prize and size combination, from anywhere. You just cannot usually get golds that present this large and impactfully for a fair price anymore. This is flat, and elongated, so it gives a huge surface display area relative to the weight (and valuation is admittedly in large part based on weight here on such large display golds). This came from the early 2000s production of the mine, now historic. It has since been in the Marshall Sussman Collection, after he obtained it directly from Scott Werschky (who was selling them directly from the miners at that time). Dramatic. Showy, and bright! It is 57 grams (that is 1.83 troy ounces just of gold).
