Very large miniature in size, this Smithsonite from Tsumeb mine features several very large individual crystals, the largest reaching 2 cm across. These are colourless to white which indicates that they are very pure - even just traces of other metals in their structure can result in very different colours. They present a very good rhombic form, but as is typical of Smithsonite the crystals frequently show naturally quite rounded edges. They have a great resinous, to slightly pearlescent lustre too and slightly dense feel, due to their zinc content. A really well crystallized classic Smithsonite from Tsumeb mine which is in excellent overall condition. Ex Hettrich Collection.
