RHODONITE with SPESSARTINE in GALENA$750.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
The association of crystals of Rhodonite and Spessartine embedded within Galena is unique to the Broken Hill mines at Yancowinna Co., New South Wales, Australia. This is because the geochemical conditions required for manganese silicates to crystallize within lead sulphide are just so bizarre. This larger miniature-sized specimen from Broken Hill is a really fine classic display of this assemblage, which more often features just Rhodonite in Galena, or Spessartine in Galena, but rarely all three together. On this piece the Rhodonite crystals dominate, as raspberry-red quite chunky triclinic crystals with generally very good overall shape, but some naturally rounded, reaching up to 1.5 cm in length. Spessartine forms much smaller (2 to 3 mm) deep burgundy to sherry coloured dodecahedral crystals either embedded with Galena, or as inclusions with the Rhodonite crystals. Ex Kessler Collection.
