This is not only merely a cluster of emeralds, which is rare from any worldwide location that produces emeralds, but it is an important miniature-sized example of the famous North Carolina emeralds, which rarely ever were found in clusters. This is thought to date to older finds of the 1980s or prior. It was dug by Mark Randle and spent a decade plus with Shaun Shelton before he sold it to Shields Flynn. In fact, it was the cover piece on Shields' self published and authoritative book on minerals of North Carolina. This book is a necessity for any such location collector and we have a copy to go with the specimen. The largest crystal is just under 4 cm. As a cluster, it can be displayed vertically or diagonally for a more space-filling appearance. Significant, in that it has no repairs. We expect near zero future production, and specimen pockets have always been so very rare, for this important emerald location.
