This is, regardless of species, simply one of the most beautiful blue mineral specimens I can recall seeing, for sharp contrasts of royal blue veszelyite upon powder blue hemimorphite. Only a handful (under ten specimens) from the finds presented by the company managing mining and export of this material had this refined style, showing off isolated and individual crystals of the veszelyite (to 1.3 cm) spaced out on the blue background of sparkling hemimorphite. The color is simply mesmerizing and I hope the photos can convey it. The few pieces of this style, to my eye, stand out from the dozens of already superb and world class examples from the find on a tangent; and such unique finds and specimens command a premium now and in the future. We bought all we could of this style, even though it might cost more gram per gram by content of veszelyite compared to the more common plates. And those, any of them, would already be a treasure by any previous standard for the species! The world's richest find of this gorgeous rare species in the Republic of the Congo, which owes its color to a combination of copper and zinc, has produced a modern-era bonanza for collectors of this formerly quite rare mineral. This was found in 2024. Who knows if more will come, but I suspect this will come and go as most other finds in this region. These are not only rich for the species, they are simply beautiful, with blue upon another blue for contrast. Tomek Prazkier of Spirifer Minerals brought these out, proudly, at Tucson of 2024. This was priced even then at, originally, $9500: among his most expensive pieces (and he is a very reasonable guy) for a reason.
