A stunning, practically glowing specimen of tightly crystallized hemimorphite, showing an unusually high degree of color saturation. This is due to copper content, which also sometimes gives us blue aragonites, from the same general area (a group of artisanal mines and excavations) throughout this region of Yunnan Province. This specimen is all about color. It is actually as good as it looks in the photos! A side view shows how it formed by layers of deposition. Multiple photos show the piece with different amounts of backlighting, which is also a color burst bonus! Some of this material, of this quality, has been cut into lapidary carvings and cabochons. This is from finds of about 2019-20.
