Tucson, Arizona, USAFor years, lost in the wilderness of a mid-series chemical composition between Olivenite and Adamite but known to mineral collectors for its quite distinctive colour and appearance in comparison to Olivenite and Adamite. Zincolivenite was finally given its own distinct mineral species status in 2006 based on analysis of material from Kamariza in Greece, but the famous Tsumeb mine in Namibia is where the finest crystals come from. This thumbnail specimen from Tsumeb demonstrates well the quality of the Zincolivenite from there. It features a 6 mm wide main aggregate of somewhat bipyramidal, or octahedral crystals individually to about 3 mm across, on a small piece of matrix. Their colour and lustre is classically Zincolivenite from Tsumeb.
