Gorgeous, gemmy, bright grape-jelly purple cubes of fluorite are clustered dramatically on a very contrasting plate of white to colorless quartz crystals from the famous Yaogangxian Mine in China. The color here is a little more open and grape-y than usual, but it is perched on traditional YGX-style "milky quartz points". The two species just make for a gorgeous contrast. These deliciously transparent/translucent crystals are dominated by glassy cube faces that are modified on the edges by many complicated modified faces that exhibit microstepped growth features on the faces that make them sparkle as the light moves over them! They are also zoned with dark purple edges and just slightly lighter interiors. There are nearly two dozen of these lovely crystals in this attractive group that range in size from 0.5 to 1.8 cm. Other than a few trivial dings, it is pristine. The nearly snow-white quartz contrasts perfectly with the rich purple fluorites. A splendid and contrasting small cabinet piece from modern era finds (perhaps 2022-24).
