Tucson, Arizona, USAStolzite, lead tungstate, is one of the rarest and most sought-after of species from the famous Broken Hill mines in New South Wales, Australia. From the Broken Hill Proprietary mine comes this magnificent small cabinet-sized display specimen of Stolzite with its blackish, almost burnt-looking rock matrix, liberally covered in bright orange bipyramidal Stolzite crystals. These crystals appear to show two main sorts: smaller, brighter orange bipyramidal and tabular tetragonal crystals in the 0.5 to 2 mm size range; darker orange, larger (to 5 mm) bipyramidal crystals, one with a natural etched appearance. One of the larger crystals has been contacted, causing damage, but overall this is a extremely rich Broken Hill Stolzite with exceptional colour. It comes with a custom-made Sunnywood acryllic display stand.
