For sheer size, this individual Brazilianite crystal is simply enormous and it displays several exceptionally gemmy sections of the richest yellow-green 'Brazilianite' colour. On its own it reaches large miniature in size, with its largest dimensions 5.8 and 5.2 cm. A small amount of Muscovite mica can be seen as micaceous crystals embedded within the surface of the Brazilianite crystal and there is a pitted depression in the top of the crystal where another crystal was previous sat, but this is undoubtedly a significant individual crystal of this very rare species. As one would expect for a crystal of this magnitude it comes from the famous Córrego Frio mine at Linópolis in the Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil - which is the Type Locality.
