Smithsonite
Yellow botryoidal smithsonite covering matrix with minor associated fluorite from the Sheshodonnell Mine, County Clare, Ireland, in great condition. The smithsonite forms smooth rounded botryoidal surfaces with attractive warm yellow color and soft luster, complemented by small accents of fluorite throughout the matrix. Smithsonite is a zinc carbonate that commonly develops in the oxidation zones of zinc deposits, often forming botryoidal crusts in a range of colors. Though not as widely represented as some other Irish localities, Sheshodonnell has produced distinctive smithsonite specimens that are appreciated for their color and classic association with Ireland's long mining history.
