Cobaltoan calcite specimens from the Democratic Republic of Congo are famous among collectors as some of the world’s most beautiful and unusual calcite crystals. This is a very fine example from the Kolwezi mine featuring sharp, lustrous, doubly-terminated pink calcite crystals to 2+ cm associated with vibrant green malachite. The association of bright pink calcite and green malachite is very aesthetic, and this is an excellent classic from a locale that is no longer producing.
