This piece truly exemplifies a stereotypical gold specimen. The color is rich and saturated indicating a high gold purity. The piece has a substantial heft at over 3 troy ounces! The gold is crystallized and has a number of impressions from growing against quartz which is quite typical for Nevada county. This piece is a real American classic. A big thank you to Scott Werschky with helping me with the locality on this piece. It came to my possession simply labeled Nevada which likely stands for Nevada County.
