Olivenite
This fine miniature specimen is a Cornish classic. A white Quartz veinstone matrix displays a large cavity lined with olive-green radiating Olivenite with extremely dark green (to almost black) glossy terminated crystals. This combination of Olivenite - a rare copper arsenate species - and milky Quartz with patches of rusty iron staining is very typical of Wheal Unity near the village of St. Day in Cornwall where it was first recorded during the latest years of the 18th century. The crystal-lined cavity is in excellent condition and makes for a great example of Olivenite. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 2000.062.
