NATIVE Copper
Unknown Owner
It really isn't very often that you seen such rich specimens of Native Copper from Botallack at St. Just in Cornwall. This very large miniature to small cabinet specimen is a pure spongy aggregate of well-crystallized Native Copper and presents as fine historic tarnish, or patina. The crystals are dominantly sharp, blocky, cubo-octahedra to about 1.5 mm in size, but towards one end of the specimens several well-defined elongated spinel-twinned crystals can be seen, the largest reaching about 1 cm in length. Complete all round, this is a very rich Native Copper for Botallack. Ex David Hardman collection, no. 2060.
