Anglesite with Galena
Tsumeb mine in Namibia is renowned for having produced some of the world's finest Anglesite - lead sulphate - crystals, both in terms of size and form. This individual crystal is technically off-matrix but does contain inclusions of primary Galena, including a thin veinlet cutting into the back of the crystal. The Anglesite is both glassy and bright and presents four main crystal faces in a pseudopyramidal shape with the beginnings of a twin on one side and a perfect small (6 mm long) doubly-terminated crystal balanced on one end. The main crystal is predominantly colourless but in places grey caused by inclusions. The rear of the specimen is a fracture surface where the crystal was detached from its former matrix. Ex Weyand collection.
