This is a large, broad, beautiful fan of vivianite crystals from Virginia that we seldom see for sale as this is old material from a single, and briefly worked, find in 1965. This is a remarkably complete divergent spray with dark blue, elongate, bladed crystals from 1.5 to 3.5 cm. This large fan spans almost 9 cm across and of all of the more than one hundred crystals present, all are remarkably terminated. It is nearly a floater specimen with only some gray clay present from the material these were found in at the collecting site. The backside shows a fracture that has been stabilized, however, it does not present or evident on the display front of the piece. This is such a rare specimen from Virginia or the U.S. and we see them only in museums and old collections. This was bought from Bob Batic, a well known New Jersey based collector. NOTE that this material is not good in humidity and it needs to be in A/C and controlled environment or it may decay.
