Tucson, Arizona, USAThis is a choice miniature from Neudorf, Harzgerode, Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Renowned during the 19th century as the source of some of the world's finest Siderite crystals, this lovely smaller specimen shows the absolute classic glossy fudge-coloured rhombic Siderite crystals, with the addition of well-formed rounded lenticular white Calcite crystals. The Siderite crystals present really nicely and have just the slightest of edge wear which is inevitable given the age of these classics from Neudorf. This one comes with an original handwritten label mentioning Hausmann 1863. The label certainly looks to be late 19th century in age, but whether it directly links to Johann Friedrich Ludwig Hausmann (1782-1859) is unclear, especially as he died several years prior to that date. Nevertheless, a very fine historic crystallized Siderite from Europe.
