Arsenopyrite
Arsenopyrite is one of those sulphides which is widespread and often occurs in considerable abundance, but rarely as good crystals. Zacatecas in Mun. de Zacatecas, Mexico has long been known as a source of some of the best Arsenopyrite crystals and this small cabinet specimen is a fine demonstration of this. Forming a flat plate, excellent prisms of grey metallic Arsenopyrite and a few isolated 'needle' Quartz crystals rise up from a bed of massive Arsenopyrite. The individual Arsenopyrite crystals display the classic rhomic cross-sectional form and reach up to 1.2 cm in length. A few of the crystals have their terminations missing but many are a superb demonstration of their crystal form.
