Tucson, Arizona, USAThis is one of very few larger, cabinet-sized display specimens of Veszelyite from the now famous Chinese discovery at Sanguozhuang Pb-Zn mine, Dongchuan District, Kunming, Yunnanan. This exceptionally rich Veszelyite specimen presents a magnificent deep electric-blue colour and wonderful 'damp' resinous lustre. A dense massive cream coloured matrix is veined with white to grey Hemimorphite with open cavities lined with botryoidal Hemimorphite as sparry or resinous coatings. Upon this, as in the large cavity that forms the main display surface, deep electric-blue bladed crystals and fan-like crystal sprays of Veszelyite are richly dispersed. The main feature is the richness of the aggregated crystal sprays forming two main areas, but the individual bladed crystals are less commonly seen and so are an important addition. The largest individual crystals reach 3 mm in length and the largest sprays 4 mm across. One smaller cavity on the back of the specimen is lined with small (4 mm long) Quartz crystals coated with Hemimorphite. On a world-scale the Sanguozhuang Pb-Zn mine Veszelyite stands out from all others for its sheer eye-catching impact and this one certainly does.
