Sometimes a new find surprises us and yields new world's best of species, once and done. This was the case with the mega-sized examples of this rare borate from Mexico, from a few pockets which eclipsed all previous finds - and then stopped. This is a stunning, perfect gem crystal of the rare hydrated calcium borate mineral Nifontovite from finds of about 2010 in Charcas, Mexico. This transparent, colorless crystal is long at two inches and has a perfect termination with absolutely glassy, transparent surfaces. This is an exceptional crystal for the species! it is also complete all around. From the miniatures suite of the Steve Smale Collection.
