NATIVE Gold
This very visible, somewhat flattened nugget of Native Gold, comes from an extremely remote part of Alaska on the fringes of the Arctic Circle. The Rhode Island Creek mine in Hot Springs Mining District started during the 1930s with small-scale hydraulic mining operations and continued on and off until the 1990s. The Gold was found upon bedrock and within cracks in the bedrock. Specimens from this area are exceptionally rare and this 22 gram nugget is especially fine, reaching 5.6 cm in length. Ex Siber and Siber collection.
