NATIVE Gold in Quartz
Unknown Owner
This is a rare locality Native Gold specimen from Dalny mine, Kadoma District, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe. Dalny mine started gold production in the 1940s and was a successful mine for many years but in recent times it has led a chequered life. Specimens from this mine are just never seen available, making this very large miniature specimen from David Hardman's collection (no. 994) so interesting. Comprising white Quartz veinstone, Native Gold can be seen richly dispersed in several places and along joint surfaces. It is likely to have been obtained by David Hardman during the 1960s or 1970s.
