The Orpiment specimens from this Russian locality have been widely revered for their bright orange colors. Just about every inch of this specimen's top side is covered in hundreds of Orpiment sprays that have rich orange and bright yellow hues (orpiment actually gets its name from the Latin words "aurum" and "pigmentum," referring to its rich color) which perfectly contrast the bright white matrix. Delightfully, the specimen's arrangement almost resembles an aerial view of a forest saturated with autumnal colors. The crystals are wonderfully translucent that is best seen with backlighting.
