Tucson, Arizona, USA79 mine at Dripping Spring Mountains, Gila Co., Arizona, USA is world famous for its Aurichalcite specimens, most of which were mined during the 1960s to 1980s. Technically a polymetallic orebody, it is its lead, zinc and copper secondary species that have made it so famous. Aurichalcite though is the biggie, seen in some stunningly beautiful pieces. This large miniature specimen features quite large lath-like crystals of Aurichalcite in fan-like sprays, and in a beautiful turquoise-blue colour with less obvious Hemimorphite. It is extremely rich and being from David Hardman's collection (no. 3951) probably dates from the 1960s or 1970s. An extremely well-crystallized Aurichalcite, bright and colourful too.
