This is a large, commanding Calcite crystal on a matrix of Quartz and Calcite from Iraí, Brazil. It's a stately and handsome, nearly four inch, translucent, slightly off-white crystal with smooth, prism faces and a rough top due to numerous terminations vying for dominance! The Calcite has a hexagonal outline and also shows the makings of small, pyramidal modifications near the termination. The base has a couple of dozen smaller Calcite crystals set on a thin plate of milky to grayish Quartz for a base that has small patches of green Celadonite on the underside. A great small-cab size Calcite piece from Iraí! Unusual for the locale for the robustness and isolation on a matrix plate. Part of an educational set, with these additional items: Quartz var.
