Here is an interesting pseudomorph of Fluorite after Calcite from Colorado. The original Calcite crystal and its smaller sidecar have been totally replaced by translucent, off-white Fluorite and the exterior of both the 6.5 cm main crystal and the 3 cm sidecar have a sparkly appearance from all of the tightly intergrown, 2 mm Fluorite cubes. There is some orange-brown to brown-orange iron staining in patches and curvilinear streaks on the surface. An unusual pseudomorph, unusual locality, and interesting historic piece. Featured in the book Collecting Pseudomorphs: The Changelings of Mineralogy (Mineralogical Record, January 2025) on p. 67, fig. 11. Part of an educational set, with these additional items: Fluorite on Sphalerite (SYP25-09a) and Calcite (SYP25-09c).
