Without question, the finest and largest Aegirine crystals ever found are those from Mount Malosa in Malawi. The alkaline pegmatites of the Zomba and Malosa mountains are famous for their unique and varied mineralogy and is the most famous specimen producer in all of Malawi. This particular specimen features a fine, sharp, well over three-inch crystal of highly lustrous, deep greenish-black Aegirine with a few small, Orthoclase crystals near the top that show light Hematite staining. There are also a couple of sidecar crystals emerging from the base that are 3 and 2 cm in length, respectively. Part of an educational set, with these additional items: Quartz (Doubly Terminated) (SYP25-16a) and Quartz ps. Aegirine (SYP25-16b).
