Copper ps. Azurite "rose"
This is an excellent example of a true rarity in copper minerals: Native Copper replacing a rosette of Azurite! The locals called them Copper Roses for obvious reasons — it is a complete and total replacement. And it is also a complete floater with no visible point of attachment. The rosette of Azurite and its bladed crystals have been preserved perfectly in this competition-level pseudomorph thumbnail for its balance and sharpness. This is an excellent example for one of the rarest American pseudomorphs, which only come from this one old mine! We understand that these came out in the 1950s-1960s; and today they only come to market in old collections. Featured in the book Collecting Pseudomorphs: The Changelings of Mineralogy (Mineralogical Record, January 2025) on p. 69, fig. 15. Part of an educational set, with these additional items: Copper (SYP25-02a) and Azurite "rose" (SYP25-02c).
